Health and Safety Policy for Creative Mindset
All information in this Policy was up to date at the time of its creation. Please bear in mind that legislation is always changing and as such any updates will be amended to this document as soon as possible.
Aims
It is the Creative Mindset policy to do all that is reasonably practicable to ensure a safe and healthy working environment by the provision of advice, training, supervision, appropriate equipment and other necessary facilities. In pursuance of this policy, it is Creative Mindset intention to:
- comply with the requirements of all relevant legislation and codes of practice;
- identify and make known those working situations where particular care is required
- prepare safety instructions where appropriate and ensure that safety rules and procedures are communicated to all
- arrange the provision of personal adequate supervision to ensure that safe working methods are adopted and implemented
- Creative Mindset to be aware of its duties and responsibilities under legislation so it can develop a high standard of awareness of safety;
- All staff MUST agree to ‘read, understand and adhere to the following:
Objectives
Consequently, the policy of Creative Mindset will be to ensure that, so far as is reasonably practicable:
- Any place of work or premises accessed by Creative Mindset will be of a condition that is safe and without risks to health
- All working environments will be adequate for the activity purpose
- All working environments will be adequate as regards suitable facilities
- All visitors to Creative Mindset will receive appropriate information and instruction to keep them safe and without risk to health
- Personal training and supervision are considered necessary to ensure health and safety whilst at work, and to promote an awareness of known hazards
- Arrangements will be made for ensuring safe practice and absence of risks to health in connection with the use, storage, handling and transport of articles and substances.
- An adequate supply of suitable protective equipment will be made available as necessary, and issued to any person requiring such equipment
- All plant, equipment and systems of work will be provided and maintained in a condition which is safe and without risks to health
Legal
Creative Mindset will ensure that any premises in which it operates has a full copy of the Creative Mindset Health and Safety documentation is kept at all premises. The policy will be kept up to date to ensure that where appropriate, responsibilities are met in relation to:
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) (as amended)
- Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
- Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996
- Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 (as amended)
- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (risk assessment)
- Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended)
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR)
- Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations 1996 (amended August 2023, January 2024,October 2024)
- Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992, as amended 1994 (amended 2024)
- The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
- The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Work at Height Regulations 2005
- Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
Accidents
The Accident Log must be completed for all accidents.
All accidents MUST be reported to Danielle Barker or Mary Sharon Collins as soon as possible
Records of all injuries involving all visitors and their treatment must be made.
Keeping Records
All accident registers, first aid treatment records, and any other injury investigation reports must be kept in an identifiable form for at least seven years. Visitors signing in books should be kept for 3 years.
Electrical Equipment
Alternative Approaches will ensure a risk assessment is prepared and safe work practices are in place to ensure trailing wires are covered and fastened down, portable equipment is placed in a safe position, regular visual checks of equipment are made, and equipment faults are reported and corrected.
Equipment for use by visitors will be inspected visually prior to the event for loose connections and faults to plugs or cables. Equipment with known faults will not be used.
Risk Assessment
Alternative Approaches will identify the risk assessments to be undertaken for all appropriate activities.
Once risk assessments have been completed preventative measures will be evaluated according to the risk assessment and improved as necessary.
Risk assessments will be carried out at regular intervals and the evaluations of these assessments to be completed and filed in the health and safety folder.
Training
Health and Safety training will be accessed to support identified needs appropriate to work tasks.
Implementation and Monitoring
If anyone feels that Creative Mindset has failed to meet the practice contained in this policy, they will be encouraged to use Creative Mindset Grievance Policy and Procedure.
Driving
Creative Mindset will carry out regular checks of its vehicle and ensure it has valid Business Motor Insurance and MOT.
All staff at Creative Mindset will not at any time use a mobile phone whilst driving as this is an offence.
All staff at Creative Mindset will abide by speed limits and drive with due care and attention at all times.
Smoking
Creative Mindset has a strict non-smoking policy.
