Behaviour is the way in which a person conducts themselves, It is what a person does to make something happen, change or stay the same. All behaviour happens for a reason.
Challenging behaviour
Challenging behaviour can be identified as but not inclusive to: tantrums, hitting, kicking , throwing things or self-harming. Behaviour is challenging if it is harmful to the person and others around them, and if it stops the person achieving things in their daily life, such as making friends or focusing at school.

There is always a trigger, however subtle. Challenging behaviour Is often a way for a child or young person to control what is happening around them and to get their needs met. It could be that they are feeling unwell or in pain, it could be that they want something or want to get out of something. to be able to support a child or young person it is important to understand the reasons behind the behaviour. Relationships are key in supporting with this.
